Membership and Dues

Section 1
Membership in this Association shall consist of Active, Associate, Affiliate, and Honorary Members.

Section 2
Active members shall be senior dental students, dues paying dental graduates of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry (including graduate and postgraduate students) and dues paying dentists who are full-time members of the school's faculty and who have held and continue to hold a faculty appointment over a continuous three-year period. Membership shall be automatic following application.

Section 3
Associate members shall be dues paying members of the school's faculty who do not qualify for active membership and such other individuals as proposed by an active member and approved by the Executive Council. Membership shall be automatic following application and the approval of the Executive Council.

Section 4
Affiliate members shall be non-alumni dentists and graduates of the School of Dentistry's auxiliary programs who apply for membership and pay annual dues to the Association.

Section 5
Honorary members shall be individuals who, through meritorious services to the Association, the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, or the profession at large, are deserving of special recognition. Recipients of the Fuller Award automatically become Honorary members. Such individuals shall be nominated by a member, approved by the Executive Council and by a two-thirds majority of the alumni present at an annual meeting.

Section 6
Only active members may vote and hold office in this Association.

Annual dues of $75 are due and payable on January 1 of each year.
There shall be no dues for senior dental students, first year graduates, or Honorary members.
Any member delinquent in his dues for a period of three months shall be notified by the Secretary-Treasurer in accordance with the recommendations of the Executive Council. Failure to pay dues prior to March 31 will result in membership withdrawal in accordance with the By-Laws, Article I, Section 3. Payment of dues will reinstate membership.
