Maureen Pezzementi, DMD

Dr. Pezzementi trained at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry earning her DMD as well as completing a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. She is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and has earned her Masters degree in Dental Public Health here at UAB while on faculty at the dental school. Dr. Pezzementi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Comprehensive dentistry. Additionally, she is Director of the Alabama Special Olympics Special Smiles program . Her research interests include the epidemiology of oral health problems for special needs patients, prevention of head and neck injuries by utilizing protective mouthguards, as well as application of ergonomics for the prevention of injuries for dental professionals.
